શિવ અને કૃષ્ણનું સમાધાન Shiva and Krishna Reconcile शिव और कृष्ण का मेल

Shiva and Krishna end their enmity, clasp hands, and exchange mutual respect, with Brahma arriving to broker peace. Shiva then rebukes Banasura for bringing about the battle through pride and arrogance, pointing out that his thousand arms have been lost because of his ego. Banasura, humbled and fearing death, surrenders and seeks refuge.

  1. 1 આ બેમાં કોને નિંદુ તે, સાંભળો શિવ રણછોડજી; વિરોધને વેગળો મૂકીને, પૂરો ભગતના કોડજી.
  2. 2 શંકર કહે છે કૃષ્ણને, તમે ક્યારે આવ્યા ભગવાનજી; હરિહર બે કોટે વળગ્યા. દીધું ઝાઝું માનજી.
  3. 3 શિવ કૃષ્ણે તાળી મારી, બોલાવ્યાનો વિવેકજી; વઢનારા કોઈ હશે પણ, આપણે એકના એક જી.
  4. 4 કૃષ્ણે ચક્રને પાછું લીધું, શિવે લીધું ત્રિશૂળજી; બ્રહ્માએ આવી સમાધાન કીધું, થયું પૃથ્વીમાં શુભજી.
  5. 5 શિવે લઈને પાસે તેડ્યો, શોણિતપુરનો નાથજી; અલ્યા તુજને ભુજ આપ્યાં માટે, વઢવા આવ્યો મુજ સાથજી.
  6. 6 વળી હોંશ હોય તો યુદ્ધ કરો, શામળિયાની સાથજી; મદ મત્સર અહંકારથી, મેં ખોયા હજાર હાથજી.
  7. 7 બાણાસુર કહે હવે વઢું તો, છેદે મારું શીશજી; બાણાસુર શરણે ચાલ્યો, સાંભળો ઉમિયા ઈશજી.
વલણ: મેં ખોયા હાથ હજારને, હવે શિર છેદાવું રે; તેના કરતાં. જાન તેડાવું, પછી પરણાવું રે.

Translation

શિવ અને કૃષ્ણ વચ્ચેના આ ભીષણ સંઘર્ષ વિશે કવિ પ્રેમાનંદ કહે છે — આ બેમાંથી કોઈ એકની નિંદા કરવી શક્ય નથી, કારણ કે બંને પૂજ્ય છે; હે શિવ અને રણછોડ, સૌ સાંભળો — વિરોધ અને વૈર બાજુ પર મૂકીને ભક્તોના મનોરથ પૂરા કરો. શંકર કૃષ્ણને કહે છે, 'હે ભગવાન, તમે ક્યારે પધાર્યા?' — આ રીતે હરિ અને હર, બંને એકબીજાને ભેટ્યા અને ઘણો આદર-સત્કાર કર્યો. શિવ અને કૃષ્ણ બંનેએ તાળી ઠોકી અને એકબીજાને પ્રેમથી બોલાવ્યા — ભલે બહારથી ઝઘડો થયો હોય, પણ આપણે તો એકના એક છીએ, અભિન્ન છીએ. કૃષ્ણે પોતાનું સુદર્શન ચક્ર પાછું લઈ લીધું, શિવે ત્રિશૂળ સંકેલ્યું, અને બ્રહ્મા આવીને સમાધાન કરાવ્યું — આ રીતે સમગ્ર પૃથ્વી પર શુભ અને શાંતિ પ્રસરી. ત્યારે શિવે બાણાસુરને — શોણિતપુરના સ્વામીને — પોતાની પાસે બોલાવ્યો અને કહ્યું, 'અરે, મેં તને હજાર ભુજાઓ આપી હતી, અને તું એ ભુજાઓના ઘમંડમાં મારી સાથે જ વઢવા આવ્યો!' શિવ આગળ કહ્યા, 'જો હજી ઇચ્છા હોય તો જા, શ્યામળા કૃષ્ણ સાથે યુદ્ધ કર — પણ મદ, મત્સર અને અહંકારના કારણે મેં — એટલે કે તેં — હજાર હાથ ગુમાવ્યા.' ત્યારે બાણાસુર બોલ્યો, 'હવે જો હું ફરી યુદ્ધ કરું, તો મારું માથું છેદાઈ જશે; હે ઉમિયાના ઈશ, સાંભળો — હવે હું શરણે આવું છું.' હજાર હાથ ગુમાવ્યા, હવે જો માથું પણ ગુમાવું, તો તેના કરતાં સારું છે કે જઈને ઓખા-અનિરુદ્ધની જાન તેડાવું અને પછી ધામધૂમથી પરણાવું.

The poet Premanand reflects that in this great clash between Shiva and Krishna, neither can be blamed, for both are worthy of reverence — and so he calls upon Shiva and Ranchhodji to set aside all enmity and fulfill the longing of their devotees. Shankara turns to Krishna with warm welcome, asking, 'Lord, when did you arrive?' — and thus Hari and Hara, the two supreme beings, embraced each other and exchanged great mutual honour. Shiva and Krishna clapped hands in joyful greeting, calling out to one another with affection, as if to say: others may quarrel, but we are one and the same, always and forever. Krishna withdrew his Sudarshana Chakra, Shiva put away his trident, and Brahma arrived to broker peace — and with that, an auspicious calm spread across the whole earth. Shiva then drew Banasura, the lord of Shonitpur, close to his side and said to him plainly, 'I gave you a thousand arms, and yet you used them to come and fight against me — your own patron!' He continued, 'If you still have the appetite for battle, go and fight the dark-hued Krishna — but know that it was your pride, jealousy, and arrogance that cost you those thousand arms.' Banasura, humbled, replied, 'If I fight again now, my very head will be cut off; O Lord of Umiya, hear me — I surrender.' Realising that he had already lost his thousand arms and that his head would be next, Banasura resolved that it was far better to go and summon the wedding procession for Okha and Aniruddha, and see them properly wed.

कवि प्रेमानंद कहते हैं कि शिव और कृष्ण के इस महासंग्राम में किसी एक की निंदा करना संभव नहीं, क्योंकि दोनों ही वंदनीय हैं — इसलिए हे शिव और रणछोड़जी, सुनो, वैर-विरोध को दूर रखकर अपने भक्तों की मनोकामनाएँ पूरी करो। शंकर कृष्ण से प्रेमपूर्वक पूछते हैं, 'हे भगवान, आप कब पधारे?' — और इस प्रकार हरि और हर दोनों एक-दूसरे से गले मिले और परस्पर बड़े आदर-सम्मान का आदान-प्रदान किया। शिव और कृष्ण ने एक-दूसरे को हर्षपूर्वक ताली देकर बुलाया, मानो कह रहे हों — भले ही बाहर से संघर्ष हुआ हो, पर हम तो सदा एक ही हैं, अभिन्न हैं। कृष्ण ने अपना सुदर्शन चक्र वापस ले लिया, शिव ने त्रिशूल समेट लिया, और ब्रह्मा आकर सुलह कराने में सफल हुए — इस प्रकार समस्त पृथ्वी पर शुभ और शांति का वातावरण छा गया। तब शिव ने शोणितपुर के स्वामी बाणासुर को अपने पास बुलाया और सीधे कहा, 'अरे, मैंने तुझे हज़ार भुजाएँ दी थीं, और तू उन्हीं के घमंड में मुझसे ही लड़ने आ गया!' शिव ने आगे कहा, 'यदि अभी भी इच्छा हो तो जा, श्यामल कृष्ण से युद्ध कर — लेकिन जान ले कि मद, मत्सर और अहंकार के कारण ही तूने अपनी हज़ार भुजाएँ खोईं।' तब बाणासुर ने नम्रतापूर्वक कहा, 'अब यदि मैं फिर युद्ध करूँ तो मेरा सिर कट जाएगा; हे उमिया के ईश, सुनिए — अब मैं शरण में आता हूँ।' हज़ार हाथ तो पहले ही जा चुके थे, अब सिर भी जाता — इससे तो यही भला था कि जाकर ओखा और अनिरुद्ध की बारात बुलाई जाए और उन्हें विधिपूर्वक परणाया जाए।
