Okha prays during the Gori worship ritual, asking for blessings for her father's kingdom, her mother's auspicious wifehood, her brother's prosperity, her sister-in-law's happiness, and her in-laws' flourishing household. She repeatedly requests enduring marital bonds, symbols of marriage like the chandlo, bangles, and rakhi, and a well-matched loving husband. The valan notes that Okha then rebukes the Gori goddess.

  4. 4 ગોર્યમાં માગું રે, દિયર જેઠનાં રાજ; દેરાણી જેઠાણીનાં જોડલાં.
  5. 5 ગોર્યમાં માગું રે, તમારી પાસ; અખંડ હેવાતણ ઘાટડી.
  6. 6 ગોર્યમાં માગું રે, હું તો વારંવાર, ચાંદલો ચૂડીને રાખડી.

Translation

ઓખા ગૌરી માતાની પૂજા કરતાં કરતાં મનની ઇચ્છાઓ વ્યક્ત કરે છે અને કહે છે — 'હે ગૌરી માતા, હું તારી પાસે માગું છું: મારા પિતાના રાજ્યમાં મારી માતા સદાય સૌભાગ્યવતી રહે; મારા ભાઈના ઘરમાં ભાભી હંમેશાં હળવે હળવે બાળકને હીંચોળતી રહે, એટલે કે ઘર સંતાનથી ભર્યું રહે; મારાં સસરાના ઘરે સુખ-સમૃદ્ધિ હો અને સાસુ ઘણી પ્રજાની — ઘણાં સંતાનોની — માતા બને; દિયર અને જેઠ સૌ સુખી રહે, અને દેરાણી-જેઠાણીઓ સૌ સારાં જોડલાં — સૌભાગ્યયુક્ત દાંપત્ય — ભોગવે. હે ગૌરી, હું વારંવાર તારી પાસે માગું છું — મારા ભાલ પર ચાંદલો, હાથમાં ચૂડી અને કાંડે રાખડી — એ સૌભાગ્યનાં ચિહ્નો મને સદા મળ્યાં રહે. અને સૌથી વધુ, હે માતા, મને મારા જેવો — મારા મનને ગમે એવો — પ્રિય પતિ આપ, જે સ્વભાવ અને ગુણમાં મારા સરખો હો.' આ રીતે ઓખા ગૌરી માતા પાસે પોતાના હૃદયની ઊંડી ઇચ્છાઓ રજૂ કરે છે, અને ગૌરીને ઠપકો આપતાં કહે છે કે 'હે માતા, આટલી ઇચ્છાઓ પૂરી કરવી એ તો તારું કામ છે, હવે વિલંબ ન કર!'

As Okha performs the Gori ritual — the traditional worship of Goddess Gauri by young women seeking blessings — she pours out her heartfelt wishes one by one. She prays: may her father's kingdom flourish and may her mother remain forever blessed with the auspiciousness of a married woman; may her brother's home ring with joy and may her sister-in-law be found gently rocking a child in her arms, the house full of the happiness of offspring; may her father-in-law's household prosper and may her mother-in-law be blessed with many children and grandchildren around her; may her brothers-in-law — both younger and elder — live happily, and may their wives, her deranis and jethanis, all enjoy the good fortune of loving, unbroken marriages. Again and again, she pleads before Gauri: may she always wear the vermilion mark on her forehead, bangles on her wrists, and the sacred thread of rakhi — all the cherished signs of a woman's wedded joy. And above all, she begs the goddess to grant her a husband who is her true equal, one who matches her in heart and spirit, a beloved lord of her own choosing who will be the crown of her life. Having made all these wishes, Okha turns to Gauri with a gentle reproach, as if to say: O Mother, these are the desires of my heart — it is now your duty to fulfil them without delay.

ओखा गौरी माता की पूजा करते हुए अपने मन की गहरी इच्छाएँ एक-एक करके प्रकट करती है और कहती है — 'हे गौरी माँ, मैं तुझसे माँगती हूँ: मेरे पिता के राज्य में मेरी माता सदा सौभाग्यवती बनी रहे; मेरे भाई के घर में भाभी बच्चे को प्यार से झुलाती रहे, यानी उनका घर संतान-सुख से भरा रहे; मेरे ससुर के घर में सुख-समृद्धि हो और सास को बहुत-सी संतानें मिलें; देवर और जेठ सभी सुखी रहें, और देवरानी-जेठानियाँ सभी अखंड सौभाग्य का आनंद लें। हे माँ, मैं बार-बार तुझसे यही माँगती हूँ कि मेरे माथे पर चाँदला, हाथों में चूड़ियाँ और कलाई पर राखड़ी — सुहाग के ये सारे चिह्न मुझे सदा मिलते रहें। और सबसे बढ़कर, हे गौरी, मुझे मेरे मन का पसंदीदा पति दे — जो स्वभाव और गुण में मेरे समान हो, जो मेरे जीवन का सच्चा साथी बने।' इस प्रकार ओखा गौरी माता के सामने अपने हृदय की सारी कामनाएँ रखती है, और अंत में माता को हल्का-सा उलाहना देते हुए कहती है कि हे माँ, इतनी-सी इच्छाएँ पूरी करना तो तेरा ही काम है, अब देर मत कर!
