In this canto, sung in Raag Sakhi, a devotee extols the greatness of Shiva, recounting his feats such as burning Kama with his third eye, destroying Tripura, bearing the Ganga on his head at Bhagirath's penance, and dwelling in cremation grounds while generously granting boons to those who beg. The verses argue that Shiva's glory is too great to abandon or forget. The canto serves as a devotional hymn affirming unwavering faith in Shiva.

  1. 1 શિવનાં લીજે રે ભામણાં, નેત્રે બાળ્યો રે કામ; ત્રિપુરા દઈ તને વિદારીઓ, હું તો કેમ મેલું નામ.
  2. 2 શિવ અખંડાનંદ જેણે, ગંગા ધરી શીષ; ભગીરથ તપથી ઉઠાડિયો, હું કેમ મેલું તે ઈશ.
  3. 3 શિવ ભોળા સૂવે સમશાનમાં, ચોળે ત્યારે રાખ; માગે ત્યારે ભિક્ષાવ્રત આપે તેને લાખ.

Translation

ઓખાની માતા શિવની સ્તુતિ કરતાં કહે છે: 'હું શિવનાં ભામણાં લઉં છું — એ મહાદેવ જેમણે પોતાના ત્રીજા નેત્રથી કામદેવને ભસ્મ કરી નાખ્યો, અને ત્રિપુરાસુરનો વધ કરીને ત્રણે લોકને ભય મુક્ત કર્યા — એવા પ્રભુનું નામ હું કેમ ભૂલી શકું? શિવ અખંડ આનંદના સ્વામી છે, જેમણે ભગીરથના ઘોર તપથી પ્રસન્ન થઈ ગંગાને પોતાની જટામાં ધારણ કરી; એવા ઈશ્વરને હું કેવી રીતે છોડી દઉં? શિવ ભોળા છે, સ્મશાનમાં સૂઈ રહે છે, અંગ ઉપર રાખ ચોળે છે, ભિક્ષા માગીને જીવે છે — છતાં જ્યારે કોઈ ભક્ત કંઈ માગે ત્યારે તેને લાખો ગણું આપી દે છે; આવા ઉદાર અને ભોળા ભગવાન શિવ ઉપર મારી અચળ શ્રદ્ધા છે.'

Aniruddha's mother sings the praises of Shiva, saying: 'I take the blessings of Shiva — that great lord who burned Kama, the god of desire, with the fire of his third eye, and who destroyed the demon Tripura, freeing all three worlds from terror — how could I ever abandon his name? Shiva is the master of unbroken, eternal bliss; it was he who, pleased by the intense austerities of Bhagiratha, received the sacred river Ganga upon his matted locks — how could I ever forsake such a lord? Shiva is simple and guileless; he sleeps in the cremation ground, smears ash upon his body, and wanders as a beggar seeking alms — yet whenever a devotee comes before him with a prayer, he bestows upon that devotee a hundred thousandfold in return. Such is the boundless generosity of the innocent and great Shiva, and my devotion to him shall never waver.'

अनिरुद्ध की माता शिव की स्तुति करते हुए कहती हैं: 'मैं शिव की आरती उतारती हूँ — वे महादेव जिन्होंने अपने तीसरे नेत्र की अग्नि से कामदेव को भस्म कर दिया, और त्रिपुरासुर का संहार करके तीनों लोकों को भय से मुक्त किया — ऐसे प्रभु का नाम मैं भला कैसे भूल सकती हूँ? शिव अखंड आनंद के स्वामी हैं; भगीरथ की कठोर तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर उन्होंने गंगा को अपनी जटाओं में धारण किया — ऐसे ईश्वर को मैं कैसे त्याग सकती हूँ? शिव भोले हैं, श्मशान में शयन करते हैं, अपने तन पर भस्म मलते हैं और भिक्षा माँगकर जीवन बिताते हैं — फिर भी जब कोई भक्त उनसे कुछ माँगता है, तो वे उसे लाखों गुना देकर कृतार्थ कर देते हैं। ऐसे उदार और निश्छल भगवान शिव के प्रति मेरी आस्था अटल है।'
