Krishna speaks to Aniruddha without any embarrassment, saying: 'My boy, there is no need to feel ashamed in this matter — listen carefully to what I tell you and keep it in your heart. That Kubja — the short, crooked one — was a mere servant of King Kansa, yet she pleased my heart and I brought her home and kept her there. I slew Narakasura and freed sixteen thousand women, but I swear to you, not one of them did I marry of my own free choosing. Your own mother I carried away after having her brother restrained; and Jambuvati, who was of the bear clan, I welcomed into my home and called her my beloved. You are truly my son — blessed is your mother's womb — while my other sons are merely the gifts of fate. It has always been the way of our clan: when we see a beautiful woman, we take her — there is nothing to be ashamed of.' At this, Uddhava and Akrura both burst into loud laughter, baring their teeth, and said: 'What splendid advice you give the boy, O Lord of the Yadavas! If you keep giving such counsel to the young, then surely Dwarka itself will have to be abandoned before long!'

श्रीकृष्ण अनिरुद्ध को समझाते हुए कहते हैं: 'कुँवर, इस बात में शर्माने की कोई ज़रूरत नहीं है — मैं तुम्हें अपनी बात बताता हूँ, उसे अपने मन में बिठा लो। वह कुब्जा — ठिगनी और टेढ़ी — कंस राजा की दासी थी, फिर भी वह मेरे मन को भा गई और मैंने उसे अपने घर में बसा लिया। नरकासुर को मारकर सोलह हज़ार स्त्रियाँ छुड़ा लाया, लेकिन सच कहता हूँ, उनमें से एक भी मेरी अपनी इच्छा से ब्याही हुई नहीं है। तुम्हारी माँ को उनके भाई द्वारा बंधवाने के बाद वहाँ से उठा लाया; और जाम्बवती, जो रीछ-कुल की थी, उसे भी 'प्रिया' कहकर घर में स्थान दिया। तुम तो सच में मेरे बेटे हो — धन्य है तुम्हारी माँ की कोख — बाकी पुत्र तो भाग्य की देन हैं। हमारे कुल में यही चला आया है: जब कोई सुंदर स्त्री दिखे तो उसे उठा लाओ — इसमें शर्म कैसी?' यह सुनकर उद्धव और अक्रूर दोनों खिलखिलाकर हँस पड़े और दाँत निकालते हुए बोले: 'वाह, यदुनाथ, लड़के को क्या खूब शिक्षा दे रहे हो! प्रभु, यदि ऐसी ही शिक्षा देते रहे, तो निश्चित ही द्वारका नगरी छोड़नी पड़ेगी!'
