Okha laments to her companion, calling her an enemy in disguise, for she has torn her away from a precious dream. In that dream, the wish she had been repeating day after day — the blessing of Umiya's lord, Shiva himself — had at last come true. It was as though she had been gently lowered into a well of fulfilment, and just as she reached the very middle, the rope was pulled away and the dream was snatched from her grasp. Gardens were in full bloom within that vision, and the garden of her own body and heart had blossomed with joy and longing. Premanand says that the Lord — Aniruddha — passed through her dream unrecognised, and this companion deceives her day after day by waking her at the cruelest moment. This wicked friend, no better than an enemy, has robbed Okha of her dream just when it was on the verge of becoming real.

ओखा अपनी सखी को संबोधित करते हुए कहती है कि यह सखी तो शत्रु जैसी हो गई है, क्योंकि उसने उसे उस स्वप्न से जगा दिया जो पूरा होने ही वाला था। उस स्वप्न में उमिया के वर — अर्थात् शिव — की कृपा से वह मनोकामना पूरी होती दिख रही थी जिसे वह दिन-रात जपती आई थी। ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे कोई उसे कुएँ में उतार रहा हो, और ठीक बीच में पहुँचते ही रस्सी खींच ली गई — स्वप्न अधूरा रह गया। बगीचे में फूल खिले हुए थे और उसके अपने हृदय की बगिया भी प्रेम और उल्लास से महक उठी थी। प्रेमानंद कहते हैं कि वह प्रभु — अनिरुद्ध — पहचाने बिना ही चले गए, और यह सखी रोज़-रोज़ उसे इसी तरह छलती रहती है। यह दुष्ट सखी, जो शत्रु बन बैठी है, ठीक उसी क्षण ओखा को स्वप्न से जगा देती है जब उसका मन अपने प्रिय के सबसे करीब होता है।
