Shonitpur

Shonitpur is the magnificent demon city that serves as the primary setting for much of Mahakavi Premanand's *Okhaharan*, the celebrated seventeenth-century Gujarati narrative poem. It is the kingdom ruled by the mighty asura king Banasura, a devoted follower of Shiva and a figure of immense power. Within its walls, his daughter Usha lives in royal seclusion, and it is here that her fateful dream of the unknown prince Aniruddha sets the entire story in motion.
