Aniruddh
Aniruddh, the grandson of Lord Krishna and son of Pradyumna, stands at the very heart of Premanand's *Okhaharan*, serving as the romantic hero whose fateful union with Usha sets the entire narrative in motion. Captivated by a dream vision of the beautiful Usha, daughter of the demon king Banasura, Aniruddh finds himself transported by divine or magical means to her palace in Shonitpur, where their secret love blossoms. His presence in the story embodies the ideals of youthful ardour, divine lineage, and heroic courage that Premanand so masterfully weaves into his Gujarati verse.
When Banasura discovers Aniruddh hidden within his daughter's chambers, the young hero refuses to surrender meekly, fighting valiantly before being bound by the serpent-noose of Banasura's ally. His captivity becomes the catalyst for the epic's grand climactic conflict, drawing Krishna, Balarama, and the entire Yadava host into a thunderous battle against Banasura and his patron Shiva. Through Aniruddh, Premanand celebrates both the tenderness of love and the indomitable spirit of a warrior born of divine blood.
